Jahrhundert den »Atlas Novus Coelestis« veröffentlichte, befand sich der Blick auf den Kosmos im Wandel. Das geozentrische wurde vom heliozentrischen Weltbild abgelöst. Ein Streit über die universale Ordnung entbrannte. In hitzigen Debatten ging es um Deutungshoheit und Macht. Dies spiegelt sich auch in Doppelmayrs Atlas wider. Der Astronom und Wissenschaftsautor Giles Sparrow präsentiert die 30 prächtig kolorierten Tafeln des Himmelsatlas erstmals in einem einzigartigen Bildband - mit exklusivem Zusatzmaterial.
