|a Le colonel Paul SchŒn du SLNA au comité ParodiOriginaire d’une famille alsacienne expatriée en 1871, Paul Schœn (1900-1984) fait une carrière militaire partagée entre les opérations de combat et l’étude des milieux musulmans. Observateur aérien dans le Rif, chef de harka dans l’Anti-Atlas en 1934, il commande en 1944, en Allemagne, un bataillon de Zouaves de Corse. Il est surtout le spécialiste des Affaires musulmanes du gouverneur de l’Algérie, de 1938 à 1943 et de 1945 à 1957. Apprécié pour son libéralisme, il observe avec tristesse la dégradation de la situation algérienne et se montre critique envers les réformes de l’administration, les réactions aveugles des Européens et les maladresses des médias. En retraite à Paris, il poursuit son action en faveur des Musulmans rapatriés de 1960 à 1978.

|a Le colonel Paul SchŒn du SLNA au comité ParodiBorn into Alsatian family which was expatriated in 1871, Paul Schœn (1900-1984) followed a military career divided between combat (in Morocco and finally in Germany) and the study of Muslim society. As a specialist in Muslim affairs in Algeria from 1938 to 1943 and from 1945 to 1957, he was a sad witness to Algeria’s decline. In retirement in Paris he worked in the service of Muslims repatriated between 1960 and 1978.
