Zusammenfassung: | Oxidative stress has a pivotal and widely described role in the onset and progression of atherosclerotic plaque and cardiovascular disease. Many oxidative stress-related biomarkers can be measured in biological samples; however, there are still many aspects that limit the adoption of oxidative stress assessment in clinical laboratory practice. Here, we report an overview of the different sources and main common oxidative stress biomarkers relevant for cardiovascular physiopathology, describing in detail a recently proposed lipidomic assay for ceramide assessment, as a promising future development in oxidative stress evaluation among the many available redox-related tests |
