Zusammenfassung:Vortex separators still draw attention from specialists investigating the process of removing particles suspended in liquids. The devices are locally applied for waste water treatment in different systems - from storm waste water sewerage to water circulation in fish ponds. However, the methods for separator design presented in the literature are questionable. The paper presents two simple and functional criteria that were employed to construct a laboratory test stand. The test results gave positive feedback on the efficiency of vortex separators
