|a Abstract My intention in this paper is to reassess our understanding of the location of the northern boundary of the kingdom of Múscraige Tίre. Contrary to the generally held view, which confines Múscraige Tίre within the baronies of Ormond, I suggest that, until the twelfth century at least, the northern border lay in what is now county Offaly. This conclusion also has implications for our knowledge of the geopolitics of the province of Munster.
