Zusammenfassung:The article aims at developing an analysis of the European competition law enforcement dynamics based on the framework of economics of convention. The article questions the ordoliberal theoretical foundations of the EU competition policy and it assesses to what extent the implementation of a more economic approach might pertain to a convention based on Chicago School normative views. The economic history, the history of economics thought, and the legal history are scrutinized when the European court's case law is considered as the main driving force of conventional shifts in matter of competition law enforcement.
