| Zusammenfassung: | Qādī Lamak ibn Mālik al-Hammādī (d. c. 491/1097) was one of the leading political and religious figures in Sulayhid Yemen. He was responsible for laying the foundations of the Fatimid Ismāʿīlī daʿwah in Yemen. The present paper deals with the role he played in establishing Sulayhid-Fatimid relations, his journey to Cairo during the reign of al-Mustanṣir, and th way it was portrayed in the only source we have for this event, namely the Tuhfat al-Qulūb by the third dāʿī muṭlaq H̲ātim ibn Ibrāhīm al Hāmidī (d. 596/1199). Hāmidī's account establishes Lamak as the transmitter of Fatimid knowledge to Yemen, and can thus be seen as aimed at legitimizing the inheritance of the Fatimid legacy by the Yemeni daʿwa. |
