Zusammenfassung: | The statistics published regarding the ethnic origin of offenders and others dealt with by the criminal justice system are described, and also the results of surveys of the general public in relation to crime and the police. The problems of interpreting these statistics are investigated. There has been no satisfactory analysis of arrest and offender rates comparing ethnic groups controlling for relevant social factors. Research is needed to investigate possible disparities in the treatment of the ethnic minorities throughout the criminal justice system. |
