|a Ganokendras (people's learning centers) employ a literacy-based approach to alleviating poverty in Bangladesh. They give special attention to empowering rural women, among whom poverty is widespread. The present study reviews the Ganokendra-approach to facilitating increased political and economic awareness and improving community in line with government initiatives for poverty reduction. Many Ganokendras implement programmes geared towards income-generating activities and establish linkages with other service providers, both governmental and non-governmental. As is shown, one particularly successful strategy for facilitating women's economic empowerment involves co-ordinating micro-credit available through other agencies. /// Ganokendras (öffentliche Lernzentren) bedienen sich einer Zugangsweise zur Linderung der Armut in Bangladesch, welche als Grundlage Alphabetisierung anstrebt. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird der Befähigung von Frauen in ländlichen Gebieten gewidmet, unter denen Armut weit verbreitet ist. Die vorliegende Untersuchung prüft die Methode der Ganokendras, ein gestiegenes politisches und wirtschaftliches Bewusstsein zu fördern und die örtlichen Gegebenheiten im Verbund mit Regierungsinitiativen zur Reduzierung der Armut zu verbessern. Viele Ganokendras setzen Programme ein, die auf Tätigkeiten zur Einkommenssicherung abzielen, und stellen Verbindungen mit anderen Anbietern von Diensten her, sowohl von staatlicher als auch von privater Seite. Wie gezeigt wird, beinhaltet eine besonders erfolgreiche Strategie zur Förderung der wirtschaftlichen Teilhabe von Frauen die Koordination von Kleinkrediten, welche durch andere Agenturen bereitgestellt werden. /// Les Ganokendras (centres d'apprentissage du peuple) emploient une approche basée sur l'alphabétisation pour soulager la pauvreté au Bangladesh. Ils prêtent une attention particulière au renforcement des femmes vivant en milieu rural, parmi lesquelles la pauvreté est répandue. La présente étude passe en revue l'approche des Ganokendras pour faciliter une prise de conscience politique et économique plus aiguë et pour améliorer les conditions de la communauté en accord avec les initiatives gouvernementales pour la réduction de la pauvreté.
