Decreased insulin sensitivity and abnormal glucose metabolism start in preadolescence in low-birth-weight children—Meta-analysis and systematic review

• SGA or LBW group showed higher OGTT 2-h glucose and insulin than control group. • Abnormal glucose metabolism in SGA or LBW people started in preadolescence. • The metabolic abnormalities might be worse with age in SGA or LBW young people.
