Scientific Communities als eine Form der Systembildung im Wissenschaftssystem, deren strukturelle Parameter (Initiierung des Kontakts in Interaktion unter Anwesenden/Fortsetzen von Austausch und Zusammenarbeit trotz entstehender räumlicher und zeitlicher Distanzen) eine Affinität zu den Möglichkeiten der CVK aufweisen; 4. die Wirkungen des Computers in makrosystemisch relevanten Kontexten des Wissenschaftssystems (Textstabilität/Datenaustausch/ Strukturbildung durch Information/Publikation als Kommunikation mit universellen Publika); 5. Differenzen der zeitlichen Absorbierbarkeit von Informationen als die die Reaktionsweise eines Funktionssystems auf Computer bestimmende Variable. | ||
| 520 | |a This paper provides a survey of the ef f ects of computer- media ted communication (CMC) on the forms and structures of scientific communication with an emphasis on five aspects: 1) a methodical and theoretical discussion of the tendency of technological innovations to maintain existing communications structures vs. the alternative possibility of transforming them; 2) the relation between the communication of facts and the communicative maintenance of social relationships in CMCs; 3) scientific communities as a form of system- building within academia whose structural parameters (initiation of contact in face-to-face meetings/ continued exchange and cooperation despite subsequent distances in time and space) show an affinity to the possibilities offered by CMC; 4) the effects of the computer in various macrosystemically relevant contexts of the scientific system (text stability/data exchange/structure-building by means of information/publication as communication with a universal public); 6) differences in the speed at which information can be absorbed as the variable determining the way a functional system reacts to the computer. | ||
