Rezension: Zwischen der knappen, faktenorientierten Darstellung von M. Füssel (2015) und der detailreichen Rekonstruktion von B. Simms (2014) bzw. der von der Erzählung lebenden Darstellung von J. Willms (2015) nimmt diese gleichsam eine Mittelposition ein. Sie lebt von den zahlreichen in den Text eingestreuten Zitaten zeitgenössischer Teilnehmer und Beobachter; ansonsten ist der Text des Militär- und Neuzeithistorikers Bremm ("Industrialisierung", 2014; "Propaganda im 1. Weltkrieg", 2013) sachlich gehalten, übersichtlich gegliedert und gut lesbar. In den Text eingebaute biografische Details zu einigen historischen Protagonisten (z.B. Blücher, Gneisenau) und der im Kapitel "Analyse" unternommene Ausblick auf eine Epoche, in der nach einem 20-jährigen Kriegszustand in Europa zumindest bis zur Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts keine gröe︢ren Kriege und Schlachten mehr folgten, tragen zur Einordnung bei. Anmerkungen, knappes Literaturverzeichnis, Personenregister. (2)
