Sü:︢ "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer", 2018), dessen Titel ein Zitat von Hermann Göring enthält, verfolgt Birthe Kundrus, Jahrgang 1963, Professorin für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte an der Universität Hamburg, die deutsche Kriegspolitik während der NS-Zeit. Sie zeigt auf, wie diese von einem radikalen Antisemitismus und Rassismus angetrieben, von grenzenloser Gewalt, Massenmord und Expansionsstreben gekennzeichnet war, um "Lebensraum" zu erobern und das jüdische und andere Völker zu vernichten bzw. zu unterwerfen. Sie beschreibt anhand zahlreicher zeitgenössischer Zeugnisse, wie unterschiedlich die Deutschen, Soldaten wie Zivile, diesen Krieg und Völkermord wahrnahmen, von Einverständnis bis zunehmender Distanzierung zum Ende des Kriegs hin. - Ein anschaulich geschriebenes, gut lesbares Buch, ergänzt durch eine Auswahlbibliografie und ein Personenregister.
