Rezension: Erstmals liegt hier auf knappem Raum eine vergleichende Darstellung der Propagandabemühungen Deutschlands, Englands, Frankreichs und der USA im 1. Weltkrieg vor. Nach einem Rückblick auf die Geschichte der Propaganda seit der Antike gibt der Militärhistoriker, der einen umfassenden Propagandabegriff anlegt, einen flüssig zu lesenden Überblick, wie Staat, Presse und veröffentlichte Meinung in diesen 4 Ländern gemeinsam daran arbeiteten, die "Heimatfront" zu stärken, gegnerische Nationen zu schwächen und neutrale Staaten auf ihre Seite zu ziehen. Intellektuelle Meinungsführer, Kriegskorrespondenten und staatliche und private Institutionen arbeiteten Hand in Hand, um die Öffentlichkeit mit ihren Schwarz-Weiss-Bildern von Freund und Feind im Sinne ihrer Kriegsziele zu beeinflussen, wobei Bremm dies allerdings nicht als kriegsentscheidend wertet. Mit ein paar z.T. farbig gedruckten Bildbeispielen, Bibliografie und Kreuzregister. (3 S)
