Diese politische Debatte, die 1933 ihr zwangsläufiges Ende fand, wird hier wieder von HistorikerInnen, überwiegend aus dem deutschen Sprachraum, neu aufgegriffen, um ihn für die Friedensforschung nutzbar zu machen. Unter den 14 AutorInnen befinden sich so bewährte Namen wie E. Krippendorff, M. Messerschmidt und W. Wette. Daneben steht auch eine jüngere Generation, die den Blickwinkel der Debatte erweitert, z.B. durch die Militarismus-Kritik der Frauen und aus dem Katholizismus. 2 vergleichende Aufsätze über den britischen und französischen Militarismus arbeiten die Eigenheiten des deutschen heraus. Alle AutorInnen setzen etwas Geschichtswissen voraus, kommen aber den Lesern in Diktion und Darstellungsweise entgegen. Ein fruchtbarer Titel zum Thema, der gut neben "Recht ist, was den Waffen nützt" (BA 11/04) einzusetzen ist. (2)
