Lindner: "Jeanne d'Arc", BA 12/98; G. Duby: "Die Prozesse der Jeanne d'Arc", ID 48/99), allerdings mit einer neuen Akzentuierung, die aus dem Untertitel deutlich wird. Darüber hinaus war Thomas bemüht, Ereignisse im Leben der Jeanne d'Arc genauer als bisher zu ermitteln und auf bislang offene Fragen wie darauf, ob Jeanne d'Arc tatsächlich Stunden vor ihrem Tod dem Glauben an den göttlichen Auftrag ihrer Mission abgeschworen hat, eine Antwort zu finden. - Wenn der Autor sich auch als Wissenschaftler den Quellen und Akten verpflichtet fühlt, ist daraus durchaus keine trockene Lektüre entstanden.
