So ist ein Lehrbuch entstanden, das dem Sprachhistoriker die Gesamtheit der indogermanischen Sprachen vorführt, aber auch ein hilfreiches Werk zum gezielten Nachschlagen, das lautliche Erscheinungen mit ihrer historischen Grundlage zeigt.
