|a Mit der Liberalisierung der Märkte für Elektrizität und Telekommunikation im ausgehenden 20. Jahrhundert haben sich Marktordnungen für diese Infrastrukturen herausgebildet, die in einigen Ausprägungen an die des ausgehenden 19. Jahrhunderts erinnern, in anderen aber grundsätzlich unterschiedlich angelegt sind. Anhand der Ordnungselemente Eigentum, Koordinierung und Lenkung werden Elektrizität und Telekommunikation sektoral und epochal für die Jahrzehnte vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg und für die der jüngsten Vergangenheit miteinander verglichen. Einerseits wird deutlich, wie sehr institutionelle und organisatorische Pfadabhängigkeiten die heutigen Marktordnungen prägen, andererseits aber auch, wie stark der ordnungspolitische Bruch in der jüngsten Vergangenheit war.

|a The liberalization of the markets for electricity and telecommunications at the end of the 20th century led to the development of market orders for these infrastructures, some of which are reminiscent of those at the end of the 19th century, while others are fundamentally different. Based on the elements of ownership, coordination and regulation, electricity and telecommunications are compared on a sectoral and epochal basis for the decades before the First World War and for the recent past. On the one hand, it becomes clear how much institutional and organizational path dependencies characterize today's market orders, but on the other hand also how strong the regulatory break was in the recent past.
