Es analysiert die politischen und gesellschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen, die Rolle des nachrichtendienstlichen Raumes, die Herausforderung der Streitkräfte durch Wissenschaft und Technik und ihren Umgang mit den wahrgenommenen Bedrohungen der inneren und äusseren Sicherheit. Der Autor zeichnet die Entstehung des modernen Führungsgrundgebietes "Militärisches Nachrichtenwesen" auf. Die Präsentation ausgewählter Operationen zeigt, dass es dabei schon immer um mehr als nur Spionage ging, sondern um staatliches Wissensmanagement an den Schnittstellen von Militär, Polizei und Diplomatie."--
