|a Die englischen Versicherer haben mit ihrer Präsenz auf den kontinentaleuropäischen Versicherungsmärkten im 19. Jahrhundert die Entwicklung der Versicherungspraxis und des Versicherungsrechts auf dem Kontinent maßgeblich geprägt. So jedenfalls stellt die Literatur die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Lebensversicherung überwiegend dar. Detaillierte Analysen zu diesem vermeintlich prägenden Einfluss fehlen indes bisher. Thomas Heuermann hat es sich in seiner Arbeit zur Aufgabe gemacht, diesen Einfluss für das Lebensversicherungsrecht in Deutschland eingehend zu beleuchten. Dabei beschränkt er sich nicht nur auf die rechtlichen Entwicklungen, es handelt sich also um keine rein dogmengeschichtliche Betrachtung, sondern er verknüpft die rechtlichen Entwicklungen mit den versicherungstechnischen Fortschritten. Da insbesondere die deutschen Witwenkassen und Versorgungsanstalten des 18. Jahrhunderts insoweit unterforscht sind, hat er hier Neuland betreten. / Through their presence in continental European insurance markets in the 19th century, English insurers are said to have shaped the development of insurance practice and insurance law on the continent. However, there is a lack of detailed analysis of this supposed formative influence. Thomas Heuermann sheds light on this influence on life insurance law in Germany and links the legal development with the actuarial progress.
