Zusammenfassung: | The Max Weber-Studienausgabe (MWS) renders Max Weber's works and speeches accessible to a large audience, using the complete and reliable Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe (MWG) as its basis while deliberately dispensing with its editional apparatus. It has however been laid out in such a manner that the reader can easily fall back on the MWG. In his posthumously published text, The City, Weber has elaborated a provisional synthesis of his studies. The text presents a broad historically applicable typology of the cities. Furthermore, it focuses on the topic 'City in the Sense of Law', the city as a corporation. The editor's introduction, editorial report and detailed comments provide a fundamental text regarding Weber's interest in world history. Showing its importance, this text has prompted numerous research works on different epochs and cultures and will carry on doing so. |
