|a Le motif de l'espérance ne revient qu'à six reprises en Hébreux. Il n'en revêt pas moins une importance réelle. Tous les passages concernés présentent une connotation eschatologique que le motif a progressivement acquise, comme l'illustre une enquête menée dans la Septante et dans la littérature intertestamentaire. Ces passages s'avèrent eux-mêmes d'une importance particulière au sein de l'écrit et s'intègrent pleinement dans ce que l'on peut considérer comme ses principales lignes de force. Ils en reflètent à la fois les tensions et les enjeux et s'intègrent à la fois dans le circuit de la Parole et dans la représentation renouvelée de l'accès à Dieu qu'il entend à la fois défendre et promouvoir.

|a Though the theme of hope occurs only six times in Hebrews, its importance cannot be denied. In all the passages where it appears, the eschatological dimension that the word gradually acquired in the Septuagint and in the intertestamental Literature is effective. These passages are themselves of great importance within the epistle and are fully consistent with its main purpose. They reflect its major tensions and issues, taking place both within the circle of the Word and the conception of the renewed access to God the text wants to express and to promote.
