Les contributions confirment les grandes avancées de la recherche européenne dans le domaine de l'archéologie du milieu. Reprenant et dépassant les études récentes qui ont montré comment la seigneurie a pu construire, avec des objectifs bien précis de valorisation du pouvoir, le paysage qui entoure le château, les études qui composent cet ouvrage s'attachent également à l'implantation initiale de la forteresse dans un paysage choisi, à une altitude bien définie, ou près de certains lieux symboliques ou économiquement utiles, et à la signification de ces choix. Les contributions réunies évoquent aussi la mise en place d'un réseau de communications et l?évolution dans le temps long de cette maîtrise du paysage environnant. Elles s'attachent enfin à la restitution actuellement possible de ce paysage, avec les moyens que cela suppose. Les articles qui composent ce volume émanent de chercheurs de dix états principalement d'Europe du Nord-Ouest, mais évoquent également l'exemple de Kaboul (Afghanistan). Ils mettent en évidence les moyens d'investigation nouveaux (modélisation, images 3D, radar, géophysique et LiDAR) qui permettent de reconstruire et de mieux comprendre l'organisation des châteaux | ||
