|a Die Collectio canonum Hibernensis ist eine der ungewöhnlichsten und zugleich einfluss reichsten Sammlungen frühmittelalterlichen Kirchenrechts. Die vorliegende Studie stellt die Fra ge, wie die Hibernensis als systematische Sammlung bei der Neuaneignung autoritativer Texte vorgeht und im Rückgriff auf die Bibel, die Kirchenväter sowie die Konzilsakten spätantiker, gallischer und irischer Provenienz ein neues Konzept formuliert. Wie die Hibernensis im kreati- ven Umgang gestaltend in ihr Textmaterial eingreift und dadurch einen neuen Normenhorizont schafft, wird im Beitrag anhand des Buchs XXI: De judicio gezeigt. Dabei werden die dort vertre tenen theologisch-eschatologischen Vorstellungen von Gerechtigkeit und der im Frühmittelalter zentrale Aspekt der spirituellen Ausgestaltung öffentlicher Autorität deutlich. The Collectio canonum Hibernensis is an extraordinary and at the same time highly influential collection of early medieval canon law. The collection's relevancy lies in its creation of a new text by way of adopting older authoritative texts such as extracts from the bible, the church fathers and furthermore canon law of the early church as well as of Gallic and Irish provenance. The creative process with which the Hibernesis formed new law in reference to old texts is shown via analysing book XXI: De judicio . In connection with this the article will examine the ideas of justice formulated in this text and shed some light on the central aspect of spiritual design of public authority
